1. Article Template
To help you do your work, an article template has been prepared by SCIKNOW for use with MS Word 2007. Predefined style formats are available for all the necessary structures that are supposed to be part of the manuscript.Click here to download the article template!
2. Manuscript Submission to SCIKNOW

- All submitted articles must be original, not having been published before, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Papers should be clear, concise, coherent and accurate. If you need further help, please contact [email protected].
3. Writing Your Text
- Please use our Word template to prepare your text. All the necessary formatting is already preset in the template.
- National spellings from all nations are recognized as authentic and will be accepted.
- Type
- Use a single main font (Times Roman) for the entire text. For special characters, please use Symbol or Arial Unicode.
- Emphasis
- In running text, please set emphasized words or phrases in italic type.
- Length
- Please keep your manuscript more than 4 pages after you adopt our format.
4. Headings and Tables of Contents
A well-structured text and meaningful headings make it easier for the reader to get a general idea of the text.
Please use the decimal system of headings with no more than four levels.

Please list only the top three levels of headings in the table of contents.
In cross-references, please give the chapter or section number (e.g.,see Sect. 3.5.1).
- Abstract
- Each chapter should be preceded by an abstract (150-250 words) that summarizes the content.
- Technical Terms, Abbreviations
- - Ensure that the spelling of names, terms, and abbreviations is consistent, including in tables and figure legends.
- - Abbreviations, except for very commonly ones, must be defined the first time they are used and a list supplied with the manuscript.
- - Please always use internationally accepted signs and symbols for units, so-called SI units.
- - Chemical compounds should be named according to the systematic rules of the IUPAC or Chemical Abstracts.
- Please also note the following:
- Species and genus names, mathematical/physical variables, and prefixes in chemical compounds should be set in italic type
- L and D indicating optical activity should be set in SMLL CAPITALS (D- and L-dopa)
- Tables
- - Number the tables consecutively using the chapter number (e.g.,Table 1.1) and ensure that all the tables are cited in the text in the correct order.
- - Give each table a heading.
- - To format the table columns, use the table function.
- - Do not use the space bar to separate columns.
- - If a table cell is to be left empty, please type a hyphen (-) in it.
- - Please do not treat simple, one-column lists as tables, but instead set them as part of the running text. Use the displayed list function instead.
- Equations
- - Equations of the type (x+y)2=x2+2xy+y2 can be written as normal text.
- - For all other equations, please use MathType or the Microsoft equation editor. And insert the graphic into your text file as an object. Prepare the whole equation in this way and not just part of it.
- - When entering your equation, select the appropriate style for each character from the menu.
- - Do not insert the equation number from the equations editor.
- - Please do not insert symbols or special characters that are not part of equations as graphics or using the formula editor if they are available as Symbol or Unicode fonts.
- - Formulas/equations are numbered chapterwise. The formula number is given in parentheses as right aligned text next to the formula

5. Literal Text
In order to distinguish the literal text of computer programs from running text, we recommend using a font such as Arial or Helvetica.
If you need a font for your programs in which every character has the same width, please use Courier.
Manuscripts in the field of Mathematics and Physic, the text layout should be in single column, for manuscripts submitted to other disciplines two columns layout should be followed.
References
Purpose: To provide the complete reference for every citation mentioned in the manuscript.
Rules for References List:
- The last name appears first, followed by the initials.
- The ampersand (&) is used if there is more than one author.
- There is a comma before the &.
- The year appears in parentheses and is followed by a period.
- The first letter of the first word is the only one capitalized in the title, and the title is followed by a period.
- The name of the journal article is not abbreviated.
- The journal title is italicized and the first letter of each main word is capitalized.
- The volume number and pages follow the journal title.
- All numbers are separated by commas.
- Do not use the words "volume" or "pages".
- End with a period.
References may be cited in the text in two different ways:
For manuscripts submitted to the field of Social Sciences, Psychology, Health Care, Life Sciences, Humanities, Linguistics, Philosophy, Economics:
- Author name/s and year of publication in parentheses:
- one author: (Miller 1991)
- two authors:( Miller & Smith 1994)
- three authors or more:(Miller et al. 1995)
- References are not numbered.
- All references are in alphabetical order.
For other disciplines:

Reference numbers in square brackets either sequential by citation or according to the sequence in an alphabetized list:

6. Sources
The source must be acknowledged in the legend or table heading. If the source is in a foreign language, please provide a translation.
- Please use the indexing function in Word. Indicate, on average, one or two keywords per manuscript page to be included in the index.
- Information should be listed under the term that most readers will probably look at first. Use cross-references to list variations or written-out versions and abbreviations/acronyms.
- Use no more than two levels - main entry and subentry.
- A main entry should always be a noun (or compound noun) and begin with a capital letter.
- Subentries begin with lowercase letters unless the term is a proper noun.
- Index entries are formatted as in the text (e.g., italics for genus and species names).
- Abbreviations at the beginning of a term must be written out. For example, A.fumigatus should be Aspergillus fumigatus.
7. Figures and Illustration Data
Digital Illustrations For the best quality final product, it is highly recommended that you submit all of your artwork - photographs, line drawings, etc. - in an electronic format. The published work will directly reflect the quality of the artwork provided.
- Electronic Figure Submission
- - Name your figure files with your name, "Fig", and the figure number, e.g., Miller Fig 1.eps.
- - Indicate what graphics program was used to create the artwork.
- - For vector what graphics, the preferred format is EPS; for halftones, please use TIEF format.
- - MS Office files are also acceptable.
- Line Art Black and white graphic with no shading.
- - Check that all lines and lettering within the figures are legible at final size. All lines should be at least 0.1 mm (0.3 pt) wide.
- - Line drawings should have a minimum resolution of 1200 dpi.
- - Vector graphics containing fonts must have the fonts embedded in the files.
- Halftone Art Photograghs, drawings, or paintings with fine shading, etc.
- - If any magnification is used in the photographs, indicate this by using scale bars within the figures themselves.
- - Halftones should have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
- Combination Art A combination of haltone and line art, e.g., halftones containing line drawing, extensive lettering, color diagrams, etc.
- - Combination artwork should have a minimum resolution of 600 dpi.
- Color Art Color art is free of charge for online publication.
- - If black and white will be shown in the print version, do not refer to color in the captions and make sure that the main information will still be visible. A simple way to check this is to make a xerographic copy to see if the necessary distinctions between the different colors are stll apparent.
- - Color illustrations should be submitted as RGB (8 bits per channel).
- Figure Lettering
- - To add lettering, it is best to use Helvetica or Arial (sans serif fonts) and avoid effects such as shading, outline letters, etc.
- - Keep lettering consistently sized throughout your final-sized artwork, usually about 2-3 mm (8-12 pt).
- - Do not include titles or captions into your illustrations.
- Figure Captions and Numbering
- - Each figure should have a concise caption describing accurately what the figure depicts.
- - Number the figures consecutively using the chapter number (e.g., Fig. 1.1). Figure parts should be denoted by lowercase letters ( a, b, c, etc.).
- Figure Size
- - When preparing your figures, size figures to fit in the page width.
- - For most books, the figures should be 78 mm or 117mm wide and not higher than 198 mm.

Obligations of Authors and Co-authors in SCIKNOW Publication Process
- An author's main duty is to present a concise, clear, coherent and accurate account of the research performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance.
- A manuscript should contain ample details and references to public sources of information. All funding sources should be identified in the manuscript.
- All authors should cite those publications that have a lot of influence on the nature and motivative for the present work.
- It is unethical for an author to plagiarize (including self-plagiarism) from other work without attribution. It is also unethical for an author to publish manuscripts describing basically the same research in more than one peer-reviewed paper.
- Fragmentation of research papers should be avoided. Each paper should offer a complete account of a particular aspect of the general study.
- It is unethical to submit manuscript with a plain commercial purpose.
- A criticism of a published paper may be justified and it should be allowed in a "Comment & Reply" sequence; The paper should not be a polemic or make ad homonym arguments. New research that help resolve the issue should be described.
- Only individuals who have made a substantial intellectual contribution to the published research could be listed as co-authors.
- It is unethical for the corresponding author to submit manuscript without author and all co-authors having seen the final version of the article or without their agreement.
Obligations of Editors, Associate Editors, and Guest Editors of Journals in SCIKNOW Publication Process
The term Editor as used below refers to Editors, Associate Editors, Guest Editors of journals, and Editorial Board members when delegated to serve in an editorial capacity.
- An editor should give impartial consideration to all manuscripts submitted for publication, judging each on its own merits regardless to the author's race, gender, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy. All authors should be treated with fairness, courtesy, objectivity, and honesty.
- An editor must protect the identity of all reviewers unless the reviewer reveals their identity to the author.
- An editor should process manuscripts rapidly.
- The editor has full responsibility and authority to accept a submitted paper for publication or to reject it. The editor may consult informally with associate editors or reviewers for an evaluation of the work in order to make decisions about it.
- Editors must supply reviewers with written, direct instructions about the expectations of their reviews to promote insightful, fair, constructive, objective and honest critique of the submitted manuscript.
- The editor and the editorial staff should not reveal any information about a manuscript except for reviewers and potential reviewers. Reviews and reviewer identity can be shared with other Editors of SCIKNOW journals if the author consents to having the paper transferred. It is contrary to SCIKNOW publications policy for editors to release reviews or reviewers' identity to editors of non-SCIKNOW journals.
- An editor should respect the intellectual independence of authors.
- For any manuscript authored (or co-authored) by an editor and submitted to the editor's journal It's editorial responsibility and authority should be delegated to some other eligible person, such as another editor of that journal. Editors should avoid situations of real or perceived conflicts of interest. If an editor chooses to take part in an ongoing scientific debate within his journal, the editor should arrange for some other eligible person to take the editorial responsibility.
- Editors should avoid situations of real or perceived conflicts of interest. Such conflicts include, but are not limited to, handling papers from present and former students, from colleagues with whom the editor has a close academic relationship, and from those in the same institution. Any financial arrangement with sponsors that could lead to the appearance of an editorial conflict of interest should be disclosed to the Publications Commissioner.
- Except with the consent of the author or after the work has been published, the editor should not use information, data, theories, or interpretations of submitted manuscript in her/his own work until that manuscript is in press or published.
- If an editor is presented with convincing evidence that the main substance or conclusions of a paper published in an editor's journal are erroneous, the editor should assist publication , (e.g., correction, follow-up manuscript, or other appropriate means) pointing out the error and, if possible, correcting it. The report may be written by the person who discovered the error or by the original author.
Obligations of Reviewers in SCIKNOW Publication Process
- Because of the crucial importance of peer-review to the publication process, every scholar has an obligation to do a fair share of reviewing.
- A chosen reviewer who feels inadequately qualified or lacks the time to judge the manuscript should indicate it promptly to the editor.
- A reviewer should strive to complete the review in a timely manner. Reviewers should immediately notify the editor if the review cannot be completed by the time frame agreed on with the editor.
- A reviewer of a manuscript should judge objectively the quality of the manuscript and respect the intellectual independence of the authors. In no case is personal criticism appropriate.
- A reviewer should be alert and sensitive to the appearance of a conflict of interest when the manuscript under review is closely related to the reviewer's ongoing or published work . If in doubt, the reviewer should inform the potential conflict rapidly to the editor.
- A reviewer should not evaluate a manuscript authored or co-authored by a person with whom the reviewer has a close personal or professional relationship if the connection would prejudice judgment or the manuscript.
- A reviewer should treat a manuscript sent for review as a confidential document. It should neither be shown to nor discussed with others except, in special cases, to persons from whom specific advice may be sought; in that case, the identities of those consulted should be disclosed to the editor.
- Reviewers should explain and support their judgments in order to streamline the manuscript review process for both authors and editors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be cited.
- A reviewer should be alert to failure of authors to cite relevant work by other scholars. A reviewer should call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity between the manuscript under consideration and any published paper, or to any manuscript submitted currently to another journal.
- Reviewers should not use or disclose unpublished information, arguments, or interpretations contained in a manuscript under consideration, except with the agreement of the author.
- Reviewers are prohibited to make any use of the work accounted in the manuscript or take advantage of the information and knowledge they gained by reviewing it until it is published or by consent of the author.
